Bahareh specializes in the treatment of chronic pain, muscular and orthopaedic injuries. She received her doctorate degree in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of British Columbia and her Baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in Physiotherapy.
Bahareh’s clinical experience includes soft tissue release, joint mobilization/manipulation, manual therapy, postural re-education, injury prevention, and exercise rehabilitation for various conditions such as back and neck strains, knee and shoulder injuries, joint replacement and sport injuries.
Bahareh practices Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (CGIMS), a technique for treating pain in the absence of tissue damage or inflammation. IMS is useful for headaches, whiplash, backache, tennis elbow and frozen shoulder.
Bahareh has pursued her interest in Women’s Health and Pelvic Health physiotherapy: this includes rehabilitation to address incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and for osteoporosis. For women who are pregnant, and new Mothers, she is trained in the management of Diastasis of Rectus Abdominis (DRA) and treats chronic pelvic girdle pain.
She is also certified R2P Concussion Management therapist, and also certified in Anatomical Acupuncture for musculoskeletal pain.
Bahareh’s research focus and experience involves the study of chronic pain and muscle dysfunction using Near Infrared Spectroscopy, MRI, muscle strength testing, physical activity monitoring and quality of life in people with chronic musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary conditions. She has acted as a teacher’s assistant in clinical skills and research methodology courses, and as a clinical examiner within the Department of Physiotherapy at UBC (Master of Physiotherapy program). She also acts as a reviewer for many scientific journals on areas of chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions.
